Frequently Asked Questions

Booking Process

  • How can I pay for my course?

When you have confirmed your booking we will email you the payment details. You can pay by bank transfer or via Pay-Pal. A 20% deposit along with a 40€ registration fee should be paid in advance and no later than a calendar month before your course commences. We must receive full payment 15 days before the start of your course. Payment must include all bank transfer charges.

  • Do I have to book accommodation?

As an educational institution we choose to focus only on academic matters. Our tuition fees do not include accommodation. We can assist you with booking accommodation at a hotel to suit your taste and budget.

  • Do I need a visa?

The type of visa you need depends on factors such as destination, length of course, type of course, and your nationality. For EU citizens a visa is not required.
It is strongly recommended that you visit the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for up-to-date information on visas: http://www.mfa.gr/en/visas/

  • How do I get a visa?

When you have paid the deposit and registration fee for your course, we will send you an invitation letter by post. You must then take this document to your local embassy or consulate and apply for a visa. An acceptance letter will be issued by our school once the course fees are paid in full.

  • Do I need travel insurance?

Greece is a very safe country. If you are an EU national you can use a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) and will be treated for free or at a reduced cost by all state-run health centres. Contact your local Health Insurance Services for more information on issuing an EHIC. http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=563&langId=en#National_information_and_contacts

In addition, our school offers free insurance to all students during their studies with us. For more information, please contact us.

Courses

  • When will my classes be held?

Classes are held Monday to Friday, starting in the morning or afternoon depending on the course you have chosen. Most classes are held on our premises, however some classes also take place out of school!

  • How long is a lesson?

Unlike other language schools which offer 45-minute lessons, lessons at Andrioti School are 50 minutes long and taken as double-classes. That means you take two 50-minute lessons with one teacher. Breaks in-between classes are 20 minutes long. Cultural courses timetable might alter slightly when an outing is scheduled.

  • How will you know my level of the language?

You will take a placement test either before you arrive to Andrioti School or on your first morning in the school. Your level will be decided by the result of your test score.

  • How many teachers will I have?

You will learn from one or two teachers depending on the course you have chosen to attend. Our aim is for our students to feel comfortable and a constant change of teachers prevents this. However, for longer courses you might be taught by more teachers. This gives you more opportunity to be exposed to many accents of the language and keeps the classes interesting, too!

  • How many people will there be in my class?

Our school has a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 14 students per class. However, there is the choice of one-to-one tuition or smaller groups.

  • What will I learn in my language class?

Your lesson will be properly prepared by your teachers and Director of Studies. You can expect a lot of activities which involve speaking, listening, reading and writing. All lessons are topic based so that you learn the language in the correct context. This method makes learning more effective and it encourages you to speak more. Your teacher will make sure that your class is fun and that you feel comfortable, confident and motivated every day.

  • How long can I stay?

The minimum length of stay at Andrioti School is one week, two weeks for some of our summer courses. There is no maximum length of stay. We are here for as long as you need us!

  • What's included in my course?

Apart from top quality language lessons, you will receive all the material you need, internet access at school, access to our library (more than 400 titles!) extra activities & handouts, insurance and a school bag!

  • Will I get a certificate at the end of my course?

Of course! As long as you have attended all of your classes and actively taken part in class, you will receive a certificate. The certificate also includes some useful notes by the teacher about your progress during the course so that you know what areas you need to work on further.
